Color Splash Sunday

Photobucket

Color splash photos are those that have been converted to black and white, but one object (or several small objects) has (have) been left colored. Sometimes, it's easy to just isolate your colored object and you're done. Other times, more editing is required, such as adjusting color levels/light/shadow/etc.

The theme is permanently YOUR CHOICE. This gives you free rein over photos and creativity. You are more than welcome to dig into your archives for these photos, as long as you don't reuse a photo.

Choose one that has lots of competing colors, or a distracting background. **Make sure that the item you want to be colored is in focus!** Open it up in your preferred program (photoshop, pse, picasa, gimp, or photobucket), and then proceed as necessary. Remember, some photos might need to be edited before converted to black and white, and even after, as well. It depends not only on the photo, but also on your individual taste.

I highly recommend checking out CoffeeShop for free actions and tutorials. For example, Morgan posted this selective color tut for pse. Ashley Sisk also posted a selective color tut on her website, Ramblings & Photos. You can find tuts for all the different editing programs just by doing a simple internet search.

The Linky opening tends to open up Sunday mornings about 9 am EST, and closes Tuesday at 12noon EST.
